Split Lock Washers- The Ultimate Connecting Apparatus
Split lock washers are one of the important tools required in the assembly line. The main working of this tool is to reduce the pressure that is created at the time of operation of the machine. There are different types of screws available which are required for assembling a machine, when this screw is drilled it requires a washer. The working of split lock washers is to cover the screw with its spring type shape. If any pressure is created the moving of springs adjusts itself on the screw bar.
Whenever the machine is being operated a type of force is created and there are chances where the screw might come off due to immense pressure. To reduce this pressure, use of split lock washers is done. This has a special spring type structure which has the capacity to withstand pressure. It is one of the preferred fastening equipment for high end machine use. It also acts as a thread lubricant when there is friction or pressure. It is completely upon the type of washer for resistance building; split lock is one of the preferred ones for stamina and durability.
This type of washer has round shape with a hole in the middle for the screw bar to pass. It has a cut around the ring and has a spring type shape. This cut has upward design which fits perfectly on the screw bar. These two cuts are perpendicularly aligned to the surface of the object. So when the pressure is created there is space for movement. Threaded rods and B7 studs make use of such washers. The curved line gets locked and ensures the screw does not slip.Split lock washers also help in avoiding thread damage of screws inserted in the machinery. Greasing is required at times to avoid breakage of the washer, well this does not happen all times but as a precautionary measure it is an essential guideline.
